Repeatable but to gain a new weapon you have to give him your old one. An eye for an eye. Should be fast process like changing professions but annoying enough that you won't switch ever single quest.

It's a great idea. Expanding the game and at the same time rewarding you for the effort in the quest by allowing you to create your very own unique weapons and items with the mods you like the best. I can't see anything out of place with this.

It's a great idea, although I don't think you should be able to pick the skin of your weapon, this removes the prestige of "rare" skinned weapons, it should be a set-skinned weapon OR choose from several skins but none that already exist eg. Fellblade, golden phoenix blade etc.

The requirement should be 9, like all greens/collector/crafter weapons.

The crafting of upgrades sounds good, provided dragon hearts / whatever is required to make high-end upgrades would drop rarely.

If it only could just be made a "little" bit cheaper, so that the common person can make some weapons too

This idea would completely throw off the game...people would no longer buy Crystalline swords because they could make their own with perfect mods, the sword you get in pre is a piece of shit...called the Dadoa sword with no req and dmg 6-9. The cost of any rare skinned weapon would be decreased insanely and the vast line between pros and noobs would be joined and anyone could get any skinned they wanted. Anyone can complete a quest and pay like 50k for supplies, not many can pay 15 million for a sword...I'm interested in this game staying balanced- not tearing it apart and making it a noob playground.....you have obviously put a TON of thought into this idea- and I seem to have kinda brought this thread outta the dust- but it would ruin Guild Wars forever. Even if the weapons were customized it would still make the game crap.

Therefore- they should be called a set name, be costumized, blue and not Crystalline skinned.

Forging would be fun aswell..but blue and costumized shouldn't do much to it...submit this to guild wars and see if you can get them to add this HUGE update...would certainly prove interesting.

Who cares what skins players have! New players, veteran players - doesn't matter!

I don't feel any sort of juvenile envy if another player is using a Crystalliine weapon.

Another Gold sink, and another NPC - what more could you ask for!

Well this was an interesting read to say the least.

1) Make this accessable in the Dwayna/Lyssa/Melandru area that way people in Factions and Nightfall don't get the short end of the stick over it.
2) Make the materials for the mods be special items that you have to search high and low for in the Dwayna/Lyssa/Melandru area.
3) Make the weapon color red. Blue is for low stuff, purp for middle, gold for max and green for unique. Red would be a whole new color that says, THIS IS MINE GO AWAY when it is in a trade window.
4) The weapon is automatically customized (not sure if that ws already in there).
5) If you can have a custom name, it should be your characters name then you can pick the rest. IE Croy Iron Fist's Bludgeoner (my character's name and then a name for a hammer type)
6) Add unique skins that only this weapon smith provides. That way the whole "Crystaline sword boo hoo hoo" goes away. Yeah that sword looks cool but at least this way you can show what you worked for without having to CTRL + F1 to tell what you have.

In general I think that this would be the ultimate anti farm solution. If I can get a decent amount of money, be ascended, and then get the weapon I want there is no more reliance on farmers. Really farmers ruin the game because they create an elitist class in GW with all their shiny 15k armor and 25 gold weapons in their mules.

/signed <-- if I can do that, does it take a rank or anything on here to sign?

Doesn't take a rank, it basically just means you support the idea which is no earth-shattering thing. lol

So this is the thread he was talking about. Sounds like he was playing Zelda the way he mentioned doing damage to particular limbs, and shooting locks above gates.
On topic: Nice idea, the toughness of the mission would certainly require a certain amount of skill. As for those who say it would ruin the 'rare skin market', well...This is simply an alternative. It takes gold from going to you, and turns it into a gold sink. Odds are that people will get one weapon just to see their name, and then just go to a seller/farmer if they want another rare skin but don't want to farm or do the quest again(if it could be done again).

/signed if it's extremly expensive and that you cant choose what skins to use. The skin would be unique and not drop from enemies.

I reckon this kind of thing should be a replacement for an end-game green kind of thing. I mean, if they're going to give you a green, why not make it your green.

I'm saying this because I think it's just like FoW armour etc. everyone wants it but not many people can get it. I'd say that at least half of the people who play GW are young and go to school/university or something like that. They don't have the time to go and do stuff like that. At least if they can go slowly through the game one (relatively) short mission at a time, they still get the same rewards as someone who spends hours and hours of time, and thus people don't turn away from GW in disgust because they don't have the time to get all the good stuff.

Edit: Oh, and it's a great idea OP. I love it.

WTS - Aubrey's FTW Blade of Leetness - Only sword like it in the entire game - SUPER RARE!! Perfect Stats for any class!! Only 2500 ectos, act now!!

Goodbye rare weapon economy. Even if it was customized and although you say the quest would be really hard, I think there would become "Master Smith runs - 20k" at some point.

/notsigned but I really like how well thought out this suggestion was and respect the time put into the concept.

By the way, this idea is simliar to this one: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10155452

Make him (or a friend in the same outpost) craft for free any armor the character has unlocked by crafting it first in the original Armor crafter and then bringing the armor to the HoM or to him, and then I'd love the suggestion.
